Eisenhower Carlson takes Spotlight! On Business Award

Tacoma’s Eisenhower Carlson is the first law firm to receive a Spotlight! On Business Award in the program’s four-year history.

Launched in 2010 by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, the award recognizes the accomplishments and civic contributions that Chamber member businesses make to the community. Winners are selected by a panel of volunteers based on five criteria:  staying power, growth in employees, evidence of contributions to community-oriented projects, innovativeness of product or service, and response to adversity.

Soon to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Eisenhower Carlson was recognized for its quality of work, diverse client base, and demonstrated commitment to the community. Among Eisenhower attorneys are the mayor and deputy mayor of Lakewood, trustees of Pacific Lutheran University and the Franciscan Foundation, board members for the Tacoma Urban League, Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation, the Non-Profit Center of South Puget Sound, and Washington Women Lawyers, a trustee for the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, and a member of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Association of Washington Business.

In addition, the century-old law firm routinely sponsors fundraising activities of organizations throughout the community as wide-ranging as the Museum of Glass, Annie Wright School, Bellarmine Prep, Mt. View Community Center, American Heart Association, Lakewood Rotary, Northwest Sinfonietta, and Habitat for Humanity. Attorneys hold membership in more than 20 professional associations, including the American Bankers Association, Pierce County Young Lawyers, Washington State Association for Justice, Risk Management Association, Economic Development Board of Tacoma/Pierce County, Community Bankers of Washington, and Filipino Lawyers of Washington.

Eisenhower Carlson, a nominee in the Medium-size Business category (26-50 employees), was one of seven local businesses recognized in this year’s competition. Others included:

--Small Business – South Sound Magazine;

--Large Business – Hotel Murano;

--Non-profit Organization – Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity;

--Minority-owned Business – Burkhart Dental Supply;

--Veteran-owned Business – Summit Strength & Conditioning; and

--Business Supporter of the Military, an award presented by Harborstone Credit Union – GEICO Insurance.
